What Makes The Academy of Riding Different?
The Academy of Riding understand that the most important aspect of our lesson program is "safety first". Our philosophy is to create a safe yet challenging experience for students while giving guidance, promoting individual competence and confidence, whether they are beginner riders or our most advanced students. Claudia John has over 30 years of training, instruction and boarding experience, notably in dressage, hunter and event circuits. Her teaching philosophy uses both classical dressage and natural horsemanship training techniques that create a harmonious relationship between students and their equine partner in the ring and on the ground in a fun, positive way. The Academy of Riding emphasizes in building confidence in all riders.
Trainer: Claudia John
Claudia John began riding at the age of twelve in her native country, Germany, focusing primarily on Dressage. She moved to The United States at the age of 19 to pursue her career at a large breeding and Dressage farm in New England. From there, Claudia began working with international riders including, Douglas Mankovich and the late Barbara Silverman.
Barbara Silverman was “The Chronicle’s Dressage Horseman of the Year – 1999 and was long listed for the 2000 Olympics at the time of her death. For eleven years, Claudia worked daily with Barbara as her “eyes on the ground”, helping Barbara to perfect her skills. At the same time, Claudia was polishing her own skills. She showed through 4th Level Dressage, always placing in one of the top four positions. She has also trained through all Grand Prix Dressage movements.
Besides being an accomplished rider, Claudia continues to train, educate and board horses. Her world knowledge continues to win her accolades and respect from the equestrian community.
